Thanksgiving is a time for unity, and every family deserves to gather without feeling the financial strain. Our charter school families may not have access to the same resources as other districts, but we’re committed to supporting them both academically and beyond.

Our Impact at a Glance
At Charter Champions, we believe that when parents lead, communities thrive. Our Parent Advocacy Group (PAG) has been busy making a difference—in classrooms, neighborhoods, and at the Capitol.
Here’s a look at how we’re creating lasting impact together.

Advocating for Equity
We took our voices straight to Albany! Parents met with lawmakers to demand fair funding for Rochester charter schools, ensuring every child receives the resources they deserve. Back home, families joined a letter-writing campaign to keep the pressure on local legislators.
Supporting Students
No student should start school empty-handed. Through book bag drives and school supply giveaways, parents partnered with community groups to provide the essentials—so every child can walk into the classroom prepared and confident.

Giving Back During the Holidays
What began as a small act of kindness turned into a powerful show of community. Our goal was to distribute 100 turkeys—we were able to give out over 230 turkeys, plus canned goods, helping families celebrate Thanksgiving without added stress.
Toys for Tots Campaign
We teamed up with Vertus High School for a Toys for Tots campaign that brought holiday cheer to hundreds of local children. The result? More than 2,000 toys donated—and even more smiles.

Celebrating Excellence in Education
Parents helped host the annual Educator of the Year “Oscar Awards”, where we honored exceptional charter school teachers who go above and beyond for our kids.
Community Leadership Events
Our members played a key role in organizing civic events, including a Town Hall with civil rights attorney Ben Crump and a School Board Candidate Forum—giving families a seat at the table and a voice in the future of education.
