Dr. Paul Miller, CEO
Dr. Paul Miller has established himself as a leading expert in education, particularly in creating systems that deliver results for young Black men—graduating 95% of his students annually. With a career spanning 25 years, Dr. Miller has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and now CEO, navigating both public and charter school landscapes.
Known for his relentless commitment to excellence and his mantra of "doing better,” Dr. Miller has become a national advocate for equity in education. He is widely recognized as
"Pro-GOOD Schools," advocating for high-quality, culturally responsive institutions that work for students who look like him.
As the CEO of Charter Champions, he is building an innovative network of support systems designed to transform educational outcomes for Rochester’s charter schools. His mission is to achieve an equitably educated Rochester where every student has a chance to thrive.
Dr. Miller is also a prolific author. His work centers on changing the mindset of children through the powerful triad of Family, Community, and Education. He has published five books, including From the Gutter to Greatness and Moving from the Gutter to Greatness: The 21-Day Challenge. He is currently preparing to release his first children's book, The Good Me and The Hood Me, expanding his impact to younger readers and continuing his mission of empowering future generations.


Melinda Goldberg, Chief of Staff
Melinda brings a strong background in nonprofits, including operations, development, marketing, and communications to Charter Champions.
Prior to joining Charter Champions, Melinda was the Director of the Council of Agency Executives, a membership association of nonprofit organizations in greater Rochester, NY. She also worked for several nonprofit organizations in development and communications roles, both as staff and as a consultant.
Melinda believes every child deserves the best possible education, with guidance from educators who can help them thrive and be successful in school and beyond.
She currently serves on the boards of the Breast Cancer Coalition and the Greater Rochester Quality Council. She received a BA from the University of New Hampshire and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Center for Community Engagement at St. John Fisher University.
